The robotic lawnmower belongs to the latest generation of tools to keep gardens in order, especially if they are large, which would otherwise be difficult to manage independently. This tool is a bit similar to the functionality of the robot vacuum cleaner, with the difference that its task is to mow the grass. Continuously coming into contact with the mantle of our garden and with the earth, this tool must be cleaned regularly. In this article we will give you instructions on how to carry out maintenance on the robotic lawnmower.

The robotic lawnmower operates on a daily basis based on the settings that are provided to it. During its activity it accumulates dust and grass residues, which can get stuck between the wheels, under the blades. Carrying out a daily cleaning is difficult, but it is necessary to intervene at least once a week, to avoid irreversible damage. Weekly cleaning is rather quick and requires little effort: just wipe the external bodywork with a soft, damp cloth and remove the grass residues with a brush. These operations must obviously be carried out with the robot off and the engine cold.
To allow our robotic lawnmower to do a good job, you will need to periodically check the condition of the blades. In particular, it will be necessary to check if they are still sharp and if they have suffered damage following the accidental impact with stones and branches. Before proceeding with the sharpening we will have to remove the blades from their seat. After placing the robot on its side, unscrew the bolts that secure them and then secure them with a vice. At this point proceed with the filing following the natural line. The sharpening movement must proceed from the inside to the outside and must be carried out on both sides. Before reassembling the blades supplied on the same WD-40 Multifunction , to protect them from oxidation phenomena and the formation of rust.
The robotic lawnmower’s battery does not require any particular maintenance, you simply have to pay attention to the signals it gives you. What are the parameters to monitor? Essentially two and that is the duration and the loading times. If we notice that the robot frequently returns to the base to recharge and especially if the charging times get longer, it is the signal that soon it will be necessary to replace the battery. The average life of the battery itself is about 4 years, but it is conditioned by the amount of work to which the robot is subjected.
The importance of this element is often underestimated, thus making a big mistake! Poorly lubricated wheels can make the battery exert more effort, leading to premature wear. The wheel maintenance requires little time. First of all you will have to check often that blades of grass or other material are not stuck and then you will have to proceed with cleaning, using a brush and a damp cloth. If you notice any incrustations that are difficult to remove, dispense a little of WD-40 Multifunction, let it act, pass the brush again and finally wipe off the excessive amount of liquid with a dry cloth. This product, in addition to having detergent properties, is an excellent lubricant, capable of eliminating any type of friction.
