Are your car headlights not as bright as they used to be, or perhaps you’re worried about the condensation on them? Well, we have the solution for you as we teach you how to clean your foggy headlights. It’s important to note, you could wash your car every week, use the best products on the market to wipe it down after it pours, and even park it and store it in a garage at every possible opportunity, but chances are that the headlights would still become foggy and blurry after a period of time. As the fog builds up, it can drastically impair the effectiveness of your car’s actual bulbs, which therefore makes it harder to see, especially at night. Therefore, foggy headlights should be addressed as quickly as possible.
Thanks to WD-40®, this guide will take you through the necessary steps to help you clean foggy headlights and get them working clearly again. Cleaning the gunk off your headlights is simple and an incredibly easy DIY job that you can complete with things you probably have at home with everyday household items. Of course, there are specialist all-in-one kits you can purchase over the counter that can get the job done, but all this task really requires is some proper elbow grease.
WD-40® Multi-Use Product
Clean cloth
Clean rag
Sponge
Warm soapy water
Towel or Microfibre cloth
Firstly, you need to make sure the foggy headlights are clean. Grab a clean rag and thoroughly wipe the area of the headlights to fully remove any dirt, dust or grime that may have built up on them.
Now that the headlights are clear of any dirt, grime or dust, it’s time to grab that trusty blue and red can from out of your cupboard under the sink. Apply a generous amount of WD-40 Multi-Use Product onto a clean cloth. Then, using the cloth, wipe the surface of the headlight meticulously, making sure you cover the entire surface of the headlight.
After completing one headlight, you need to repeat the same process on the headlight on the other side. Again, ensure you apply the WD-40 Multi Use Product onto a cloth and wiping the entire surface of the headlight.
Once complete, clean the headlights with some warm soapy water and a sponge. This will help to remove any residue from the headlights and also remove any excess product from the cleaning process that may be left behind. Remember to dry once complete with a towel or microfibre cloth.
